How much for a photographer???

EDIT: ten month update, see my post on page 2

Ok, there are some great photographers on this site, as well as some people who have had some professional looking pictures taken of their cars, so I seek some advice.

I plan to have a "professional" photo shoot done of my car later this month with a model of course (hey, why not...).

So anyway, I have the model booked, she's giving me a great price to pose with my car, but I don't have a photographer yet.

How much would be a normal reasonable rate to pay a photographer to take a bunch of pictures of my car with a model?
(then I'm assuming the photographer would do some photo editing and stuff like that for me as well)

I just wanna make sure I don't get ripped off, and that I am getting someone who is actually somewhat professional.

hahaha, if you were near me, I'd do it for free, just buy me lunch. hahaha. Anyway, depending on the skills of the photographer, you'll get varying rates. Might be able to find someone who will do it for $100, and then someone who will charge $800.

On CL I see students with DLSRs offering their services for pretty cheap. Anything more than $200 is pushing it I would say...

I think $200 is cheap. You'd be surprise how much professional photographers cost. They still edit, and give you some type of proofs/negatives.

I was just gonna look for this thread to post an update, and someone else bumped it up for me.

Anyway, had a SUPER good photographer offer to do the shoot for the amazing price of $100... I would jump all over it, but I'm not sure if I want to drop that on it when I don't have an actual use for the photos like some online magazine that was gonna use 'em or something. I do have friends with nice camera who would do it for free, but they don't have the photo editing experience that this photographer has....

Ohhh what to do, what to do.....

Photographers are like anything else, you get what you pay for.

Look in the phone book or online for some in your area and check out their websites. If you like what you see contact them and see about rates.
