Wheel spacers walkthrough :)
Hi all!
After almost half a year of inactivity... I finally took the time to install some wheel spacers in the back! I ended up going for 10 mm in the back. I had 16 mm for the back and 10 mm for the front, but the stud didn't have enough space to go through... so yeah... I ordered another 10 mm spacers for the front. And now I have a spare pair of 16 mm... If you're in Franconia, Germany, let me know if you're interested :D Here it goes: Picture 1: The spacers https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...7&l=38c0e186bf Picture 2: How it looked like before https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...7&l=843306101a Picture 3: Take the wheel off, this is what you get https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...7&l=fda0f1d9a9 Picture 4: Just pull the brake drum out https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...7&l=f7365ee19c Picture 5: Protect the stud with a nut, and bang it in (try not to be crazy) https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...7&l=e24d1cd1c4 Picture 6: This was the stud that was too long... I'm not sure I'm willing to tear the whole thing apart for the extra 6 mils... https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...7&l=fc1975ebc9 Picture 7: Put the brake drum on it again, and with some bushings (or whatever that's called), sit the stud. I didn't go crazy on it, there's the final tightening with the wheel on anyways... https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...7&l=cf9f920242 Picture 8: Nice and tight https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...7&l=7d302b0f71 Picture 9: The new stance https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...7&l=ebc8551e25 I hope I'll be doing the front ones next weekend, if the spacers arrive on time :) I'm also trying to find a couple of strut bars, front and/or rear to install, but my poor German skills are not helping :) Cheers! Heh... I've just noticed that I installed the 15 mm wheel spacers with the 10 mm studs!
I counted the number of turns of the nut and it's around 7. Do you guys think it's ok? In the manual for the wheel spacers it says it should have at least between 6.5 and 8, depending on the stud size. I might demand a recount :p Thanks. |
