i use royal purple in both cars

though the cost is expensive, so i might just switch to a cheaper synthetic for the yaris

i was going to use it in my yaris, but after researching cold start properties, i went with amsoil 5-30.

I used the royal purple before and switch to amsoil but now its getting expensive, so I switch again to pensoil platinum, I think pensoil has the cheapest syntetic oil out there.

I bought the Yaris for its economy so running top of the line oil would be overkill to a car that was designed with economy in mind,i usually use
Castrol GTX 5w-30 in the summer and Mobil1 0w-30 in winter. i'd say save your money on the oil if you plan on doing normal everyday driving.

royal purple should cost comparatively to mobil1...

napa synthetic is on sale for 2.99/qt for the entire month in upstate NY, don't know if it's nationwide or not. made by ashland, so comparable to valvoline.

i use royal purple in my car, my gf's car, my dads car, my bike, my transmission, ect ect.

i like it.
(it costs me less than mobil1 can be had for...)

I used to use royal purple. But since switched to asmoils since its cheaper now that royal purple has been going up in price. I used to be able to get royal purple for 5.99 at my local winchester auto parts but its gone up to like 8 something i believe now. While i only pay 7.50 for amsoil

not sure about 'cheapest', but definetely one of the best! i've been using it in both our yaris and have been very happy with it. gets great feedback and used oil analysis from bob is the oil guy(5w-30 anyways). nothing against amsoil or royal purple, but not sure if they're worth the extra coin over the pennzoil.

In the summer, I use 2qts of synthetic and 2qts of conventional oil. It doesn't matter which brand, just as long as it is a brand name. And in the winter, I use 3qts of synthetic and 1qt of conventional. Once again, the brand doesn't matter as long as it's a household name. I'm a huge fan of Purolator PureOne filters, but if I can get a hold of those, I use the FRAM Tough Guard.

I've heard mixed things about Royal Purple, though mostly good.

If you want the best of the best, I've been told AMSOIL is the way to go. Then again, oil opinions can vary, as we all know.

Is there some reason for putting this high priced oil in a Yaris?because if its for extended engine life i sure dont expect to be running this car for 10+ years and 300,000kms,i usually trade my cars every 5yrs or 150k whatever comes first.why should i spend extra money for oil so some one else can reap the benefits.

You contradict yourself. You WOULD want to maintain your car as best as possible so that you'd get the most trade-in value for your car when the time comes. Besides, not all of us trade-in our cars as frequently (or infrequently) as you do. As well, there are people who exceed 150K within 2yrs of owning their Yaris. If they do that much driving, don't you think it's a justifiable investment to purchase synthetic oil? What about people who live in areas with colder climates? Should they not invest in synthetic oil, regardless of how inexpensive the Yaris is? Don't just view things from your eyes.

And since oil doesn't need to be changed so often, throwing in a few extra dollars for synthetics isn't going to hurt. I mean, we throw more money than that away every single day on our unnecessary luxuries, fast food (some of us), beer, etc. Big deal, you get me?

You shouldn't. You don't. You're cheap. Simple.
