Windshield rubber replacement
Can you replace strictly the rubber on a windshield wiper ? My blades are in very good condition so I'd assume replacing the entire blade is pointless. Although what size would I need for a 2012+ model year ?

Probably possible, but not worth the trouble. My wipers usually cost $10-20, maybe cheaper if on sale. And there is only 1 front wiper that's 28 inches in size.

However, it depends on which wiperblade is fitted. With the genuine Toyota blade with the stainless steel inserts in the rubber it's do-able but not if there are no steel inserts. Yes, 28" length rubber if that is the length of the blade. This is a U.K. site where I purchase mine. Video instructions. https://www.wiper-blades-refills.co....er-blades.html - |

How do I know whether the blade is a stainless steel insert; simply by looking at the blade ? And the site to which you linked too; whether it matters, doesn't show Yaris as a list of model cars ?
I assume Yaris 2012+ has a 28" rubber blade ? @yarisimean - I understand what you mean, but they say to only replace the entire wiper if it's eroded or chipped etc; otherwise a rubber replacement will suffice. |

Most Toyota's last 10, 15 years you can get just the OE rubber refill. Its generally priced reasonable and will give you OE quality. Usually the complete blade comes off pretty easy. Take it to a work bench and look to see how the rubber strip is locked in.just squeeze and pull out the rubber along with the 2 metal strips. Then put the strips in your new rubber and slide the assembly in making sure you lock it in place by manipulating the rubber,. Once you see it, it will make sense.

I highly recommend the PIAA silicon refills... fits like OEM and they are a bit more money, but I think worth it...

Yes, the steel insert is visible on each side and along the whole length of the rubber. No, it doesn't specify Yaris, only Toyota. I would suspect that, if a 28" blade is fitted, then they fit many Toyota models for uniformity of supply. They fit my Yaris perfectly. Measure your blade? As I stated, that is a U.K. website so U.S.A./Canada versions may have diffeent blades. But the video shows how easy it is. It is no doubt possible to accomplish insitu but as the complete blade is easy to remove then working off the car and indoors is much better. |

Hi Yoda, I replaced my refill and it was simple and works like new and as mrpi mentioned, you will have the metal strips.
I did some checking at work, For Canadian Yaris it will be FRENCH production use 85214-58030 refill for production date 2011-08 to 2011-12 85214-52090 REFILL ,Fits 2012-01 onwards thru 2018. ( The complete blade subs to all being the same number for all production ) Lots of stock on refills at Toronto PDC . If you order from a Toyota dealer if you order by serial # they will sort out which one you need or order by production date Good luck |
