Yaris making knocking noise

Hi all,

My first post please help/advise, I have brought a second hand Toyota Yaris T-Spirit 53 model and not expert in cars . When I drive over bumps, braking sometime or taking sharp right turns it makes knocking noise not sure if it's at front or back. I have been told that exhaust pipe is bent and hitting the chaise. I don't want replace exhaust and then find out it's something else causing the problem. Anyone come across anything like this.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Knocking is too vague of a description, especially since 'knocking' is usually associated with a door, or engine knock which is the premature detonation of fuel in the cly.

Anyway, more elaboration would help.

I don't think it's the doors or engine, it hard to describe it really but it's like if you screw a nut really tight and it sort makes noise when you are unable to screw it further or when screwdriver snaps off.

I would take it to the shop and let the mechanic ride with you to help diagnose. Or let a friend drive and then you can spend the time figuring out where the knocking is coming from.

Ok, thats TONS better. It does sound like your exhaust is hitting something.

ok check your struts i just had mine fixed and it was the struts being worn..you might have hit a pot hole or something...luckily for me its under warranty..although they gave me new trd springs coz they thought it was a defective spring in turn it was the front struts so they change that as well..

oh yah mine knocked on bumps and sharp turns as well..
