EGR blanking plate: does it work?

Hi guys, I have read in some other car forums that excluding the EGR with a blanking plate will improve low end response and keep the engine cleaner.
Is this true? Can I do this on the Yaris? My model is a 1.33 petrol with 100 hp (the same 1NR-FE engine used on the Scion IQ, just with more hp), where should I place the plate to make things work?
These are some pictures of my engine, the first is showing the exhaust manifold where the EGR inlet is (25628B), the second is showing where the EGR is attached to the intake manifold (25627C). Should I put the plate on the inlet side or the other one? Thanks in advance

The blanking plate would be installed in place of the 25633 gasket. My understanding is that it would help with both.

It's the next thing I was going to ask, does the CEL come out when doing this?

My understanding is that leaving the valve in place, but just installing the plate will keep the CEL from coming on.

It should be nice if someone could draw the shape of the plate that needs to be made, because I can't find any ready-to-use plate on the internet and the access to the EGR on the 1NR-FE motor is a pain in the ass. If I'm not wrong the 1NZ-FE and 1NR-FE engines are using the same shaped EGR...

I was wrong, they're not the same, I think I'm gonna find some time to dismount mine and make the plate from scratch
