clutch change

2007 yaris manual transmission
how much time does it take to change a manual transmission clutch?
are any special tools required?
I have about 75,000miles. i feel it slipping slightly maybe when its wet.

how does it fail? does it simply slip and fail to grab?
do bad things happen if i wait too long?

at what mileage should I change the timing belt?

thanks for help

There is no timing belt. The 1nz utilizes a timing chain and not a belt.

Timing chains are built for the life of the car however while they can technically last longer, it is suggested that you change it at 200k.

The clutch swap shouldn't take more than a couple hours with a lift and tranny jack. I've dropped the clutch without dropping the engine, but it's almost easier to pull the whole engine and do the clutch on a bench, but that's my opinion of course. If you don't have a lift and you are a DIY sort of person then you are looking at 3-4 hours. If you haven't ever done it then double that for allowed time to be safe.
