Which Rear Sway Bar?? - Toyota Yaris Forums

My friend recently picked up an '08 Yaris sedan and after driving it and being a passenger in it, I noticed the understeer it suffers from. Car is completely stock, and while I am more than aware wheels/tires & springs/shocks would really help as well, she rather not change the look of the car, so rear sway bar is where we are. And after a little reading, it seems as though there are basically three rear sway bar options: TRD, Whiteline, and UR.

Car won't be used for anything but as a DD, just looking for a little more stability. Should the TRD be adequate? Or might as well spend the extra $50 for the Whiteline?

What do you guys think?

Whiteline is adjustable, you can set it at your preferred stiffness.

TRD/UR are simpler and identical to each other, but the UR is less expensive.

I have seen that the Whiteline is adjustable...that is a plus...

I thought I read that the UR was thicker, no? I haven't seen the UR for very cheap, and doesn't seem to be as readily available (you guys don't seem to have it in stock). It seems I can get the TRD down at Carson Toyota for just a shade over $160.

Complexity really isn't an issue, I've seen how both styles mount, and installation looks to be a heck of a lot easier than the Whiteline RSB I put on my Tercel.

EDIT: I see there are two different size UR bars.

For a DD, and with it easily available to you, the TRD is sufficient. No need for the stiffer UR in her situation.

having seen the whiteline first hand, i think it is a cool little design. Plus it has 2 settings, which is nice if you don't like the first setting.

I have a natural aversion to trd, only because nothing they make is made themselves, it is all rebranded. And it is expensive.

True, they are typically rebranded parts, but usually reputable companies. Who is the original manufacturer of the Yaris TRD RSB? And I agree, usually they are overpriced, which is why I find it odd that I have found it to be the least expensive of the three.

My vote was/is for the WL, as I feel they put a little more R&D into it.

Works great on my Yaris.

The one negative I foresee with the Whiteline is the necessity to periodically re-lube the poly bushings. On my car, it wouldn't matter, but on anyone else's, I rather not add something that would require maintenance (albeit minor).

I'm running the Ultra Racing 23mm on my auto-x Yaris, but if I can build an earlier car for B-Spec, it's TRD all the way! Sparks Toyota has a great deal on the TRD unit right now....http://www.trdsparks.com/displaypart...&parts_id=1374
