HB seats
Has anyone else noticed that the seats in the 3 door don't go back far enough?
The tilt steering is also goofy since it will hit your legs before it hits the bottom of its travel, but I would like it to travel up a few inches more than it does. It just doesn't seem to have been built for Americans. BTW im only 5'11" |

6'3"/200lbs here. long legs, but pretty average torso I would guess. I have been driving small cars for a very long time, so I guess I am used to the driving position - with my knees out.
My '74 Alfa spider is far worse, and actually our 2006 4Runner is too. My difficulty is getting in and out of the car. I put my right foot on the floor between the brake and clutch so as to straighten it enough to slide it under the steering wheel, which is kept about in the middle height-wise. I can see some folks might not be as comfortable as they'd like to be. The HB is just too much fun to drive for me to worry about it much. (Atleast the grar shift knob isn't stabboing me in the knee, or worse yet, under my knee so I can't even shift.....and I have lots of head room, too

Agreed I too have learned to just accept and adjust to what the market puts out, they aren’t going to start building special edition models for us tall folk anytime soon. Yeah "Team Knees Out"
Now if the dash were a bit higher and I could lower the tilt all the way down, it would be perfect but hey what is??

I'm 5'10" 180lbs, I don't see how the steering wheel would hit your legs before reaching the bottom of its tilt. I personally think it doesn't tilt down far enough? The full tilt range seems to be around 1" up and down? Anyway you could possibly show how far yours goes down?
Thanks! |

I've heard of ways to extent the track but then there's no space in the back

OK, at great expense, here are shots of my leg position with the steering wheel in the (1) up, (2) "middle" position - where it is when I am driving it - and (3) Down.
(I'm 6'3"/200 lbs, as previously noted.) Need to add: Seat is all the way back.

After I posted my response I realized I was only thinking of the position of my legs with an automatic trans. I can see how the steering wheel would hit your legs with a manual trans. I would still like there to be more travel.

Makes it look like stretch denim.....lol

Great pics 60! As I was scrolling down I was thinking of grabbing the camera to lend a visual aid to the "knees out" condition
