Question Is this ruining my Manual transmission?

Sometimes when i'm parked at an incline, i turn the key once, put it in reverse, push the clutch, roll untill i get some momentum and slowly release the clutch until the car starts, is this bad for my transmission? it sounds like a fun thing to do, and a good way to start it if battery is dead, but i don't know if i should practice it!

Oh, yeah, yo'ure popping the clutch. I've seen that done to a lot of old cars when they don't start, but not in reverse. Either you have to be up on a hill (car going down) or you have to get someone to push you (I think?).

Don't know if it damages the transmission but sometimes you don't have a choice when you're trying to get the car started ;) Wouldn't do it without a good reason though but that's just me.

If it's still running fine I wouldn't mess with it

Not sure it's a good practice bump starting in reverse but historically bump starting in forward gears, usually second, is common for vehicles with dead batteries. Of course, this may be different for Yaris. All of my previous manual shift cars have been rear wheel drives.
