2009 Yaris erratic idle

Occasionally my Yaris seems to want to low idle around 500. Ideas?

Toyota Tachometer

What is measuring this rpm? Just the arm arm on the OEM dial tachometer in the instrument cluster? (I don't have tach option, so don't know if there is a digital readout.)
Is car auto or manual? In what gear positions is 500 rpm idle?

Analog tach goes down and I can feel the engine dropping rpm. It’s a stick. Notice it stopped in neutral.

Normal is only 600 rpm. Feels slow compared to 91 manual 1600 Corolla 750 spec rpm.
Can see 100 rpm on gauge that swings to? 8000?

I can say that the idle in my 08 manual hatch has always been....asynchronous? It tends to drop and then rise every few seconds, but never low enough to where it feels like it's going to stall. I drove another yaris a few years ago that did the same thing.

Toyota Yaris low hunting erratic idle Corolla timing

The 1991 Corolla 4A-FE has a hunting spark advance at idle...you can hear it in the stock intake. To check timing, you place an electrical shunt somewhere so the idle timing stays in one place. Mind of Toyota.
(Consistent w/ factory shop manual. I think hunting can be a way to optimize some tuning parameter(s).)
I think my Yaris idle is pretty steady. Cooling fan and/or A/C cycling, and maybe alternator voltage regulation, could cause idle fluctuation.

Toyota Yaris idle speed

Using pin 8 (or 9?) on Hal's 16 pin OBD connector, and a ground to a mid level digital multimeter set on "frequency," my 2007 manual Yaris warmed up would, and may still, idle at 600 rpm...exactly 600.
