Got my TWM Short Shifter but...

...there are some minor differencies between my gearbox and the american Yaris, so I am gonna need your help.

However, I have some questions, cause my gearbox is slightly different than that in the manual.

First difference(driver's side)

Second difference(driver's side)

Third difference

Fourth difference

Fifth difference(passenger's side)

Basically, I need some instructions on how to remove the two screws(pics 1-2) and how to remove the ball(pic 4) cause there is nothing to pull out and I cannot do what steps 7 and on(TWM Manual) say.

Thanks to all!

Ηaha, the basic structure is the same, but there are some differencies that make it difficult to me to install it!

sorry to hear that dude, and it's not very clear formt he pics what kind of fasteners are used. The easiest way would be to dremel them out, but you'd need to re-use them afterwards so that's not so much an option...

Good luck!

Yes mate, this is the problem. The fasteners are different than those in the printed manual.Maybe I will end up paying a technician to do it!Dammit, I also paid a lot of taxes in the airport(60 euros!).

Its hard to tell but in the first 2 pics I think I see a snap ring. I am not familiar with the shifter in the Yaris so I cannot be of too much help here. Just try taking out the snap rings and see if that releases anything.

You could probably get away with hitting the snap ring with a screwdriver to pop it off. It looks like that pin would slide out then. Once thats off figure out how the part that comes off the side of the shifter ball attaches to that plastic and remove it. Remove the linkage from the bottom of the shifter and you might be able to pull the shifter out.

Basically, if the rings are difficult, the bottom linkage is inhuman.I mean, I cannot understand how to pull it out!

Thanks again for your concern.

ok from what i see, and what the twm instructions show, should be very similiar,

1. first remove the shift linkage, which is in your secound picture. (step 3 of twm instructions)

2.then remove whatever is holding the bottom of that item in step 4, not triing to remove the ball from the cup yet.

3. get yourself some spring clip pliers to remove that clip from the pic in #2 picture,

4. once the clip is removed hammer out that pin, the shift assembly looks like it would then pull straight up

good luck

...and today I fitted it!

It is great. In fact, it is more than great. But, I had a lot of trouble fitting it to my gearbox cause the ball in the middle is smaller than the gearbox's hole and I had to find something to make it fit.

Anyway, I did it and it is great.Really fast gear changes, excellent feel.

I will upload pics soon.

Thanks Kevin from TWM Performance.
