front end damage
Hi everyone, I'm new here, I just bought an 09 Yaris a few days ago. It's going to be my wife's car mostly but I'll drive it back and forth to work as well. The previous owner mentioned the radiator being replaced, and a/c compressor as well. To me, that was a dead giveaway that it had been wrecked. However, the car checked out good and drove straight, so I decided that we would get it. I was even able to talk the guy down on the price. Well, I discovered this metal piece on the front that is bent in and I'd like to replace it. I'll attach some pics. I don't know what it's called, but I'd like to replace it asap.

Could you pm me your email address and I could send them to you. For some reason, the forum won't let me upload them..

I received your picture (I believe the forum has a waiting period for a moderator to approve a new account for picture posting). Here is the picture. For sure the car has been in an accident. The bottom radiator support piece is aftermarket (the OEM ones are the same base color as the car). The piece with the crease, by the AC hose, is one of the side radiator support brackets. I personally would not go through the hassle of replacing though, as those disintegrate when the front end is hit. The piece it mounts to is the real structural piece and it actually accordions when the front is hit to absorb the shock.

Why wouldn't you replace it though? Is it because it is not functional? Do you know how much the part would cost? I'm pretty good with a wrench and I'm quite sure I could do it on my own. Also, I need an inner wheel well for the passenger side. Thx.

Would you say the part that is creased is #6 on this parts list?

It is a limited function piece and you have to do quite a bit of disassembly just to get it out.
If you did want to replace it, the part number for the driver's side one for a liftback is: 53202-52910
