My money is on a bad TPS (throttle position sensor), but thats a bit of a shot in the dark with the limited info.

O2 sensors on the exhaust, but they should throw a code.
I agree with Stove, TPS Ground loop from some added after market components (stereo, Amp, Cap, alarm, remote start). Have you kept up with maintenance ? oil changes ? You said you changed the coil and the plugs - so they're properly gaped ? it's not one of those wierd BOSCH 4 tip things is it ? what brand did you put in ? did you test or change the plug wires ? could be a faulty wire but again, should set a misfire code. Fuel filter clogged ? - how many miles or KM are on the car ? Is there a fuel rail pressure regulator on the Yaris ? - I've replaced this on a cavalier before. loose wires connected to the ECM in the engine, or is the ECM damaged. You could try disconnecting the battery and leaving the car to sit for a few hours, then reconnect and drive around for a bit, that will reset the computer, and it's worth a try. Keep us posted. |

Hello guys, I´m taking the car to the shop this weekend to check everything you´ve said. Grounds, TPS, fuel filter, etc. The car is 57,xxx KM, the plugs I used are Autolite platinum , I already disconnected the battery to reset the computer, when on "RELEARN" mode I noticed that the revs went up to 3 or a bit higher , and would stay there for about 20 minutes droping and climbing like crazy. Later the car was normal. Idling the car, revs stay between 1000 and 500 but after 5~7 min the revs drop almost instantly and that´s when the rattling and shaking begins. Even if I press on the gas pedal it struggles to climb the revs. OK thanks guys, I´ll keep you posted. |

before anybody says anything, I run Bosch Platinum plugs and I've got no problems.
Sounds liek an electrical sensor issue for sure.. mechanically it's obviously running fine |

Mine was acting weird and shutting off in park (got the slushbox) and it was some wires coming over the intake maniforld were crushed and corroded, and the back of my alternator was crushed (had been hit, body shop missed these things and I discovered them a year later when problems started).
Also check the throttle body... Idle screw might have come loose (even though it should be locked in there with epoxy. Hope the shop helps you, please keep us posted! |

Question...did you recently get a new battery, do any kind of maintenance, or change any kind of part prior to this happening?
My mum has a 2002 4cyl Camry and the same thing was happening to her car after she got a new battery. The RPM's slowly dropped until the car eventually would stall. As soon as she put the old battery back in, it was fine. The solution? Leave the new battery in and drive the hell out of it until the engine's computer realizes it has a new battery. |

I had this problem too.
After Cleaning the MAF Sensor and Throttle body didn't fix the rough idle and stalling. I didn't get any CELs and had the car scanned for trouble codes; none were found. The techs just swapped my O2 sensor from another sedan and just test drove it for a day, no rough idle or stalling happened. So I got the O2 sensor replaced under warranty. (Mine was an '08 sedan M/T) |
