Access from dashboard to engine compartment

My Yaris has no temperature gauge. I want to run a cable to an "outside" sensor. Any tips?

On the Left Hand Drive Yaris there is a giant (~3") grommet that goes through the firewall to the left of the steering column and comes out behind the battery (which is mounted to the left side, under the hood). I am not sure if the Right Hand Drive ones have the grommet in that same place on the left side, or if it moves to the right side, like the steering wheel. Put your head on the floor and shine a flashlight up along the firewall to see if you can find it.

Thank you. I have found the grommet. Can you tell me how to dismantle the dash to gain access to the grommet without drilling holes?

Out of curiosity, which side of the car did you find it on?

I suggest going the opposite way - Instead of dismantling the dash, remove the wiper arms, cowlings, and tray to get at the engine bay side. If you are feeding something from the inside, poke through from the engine bay side, and then electrical tape the wire to the poker, by reaching up under the dash, and pull it through.

Thanks again. The grommet is to the right of the steering wheel. The battery is on LHS of car. I'll get onto that ASAP. Kind regards, Brian
