I'll have my scangage in tomorrow. =) Free overnight shipping is amazing. =)

I can't wait to see what kind of numbers I'll be pulling.

Aww, didn't support a supporting vendor?

you'll like the Scangauge, it's easy to read and very useful.

they may be gimmicky. regular plug cannot fail, those might and sometimes do. is engine damage worth the time saved ?

After you get used to the gauge a bit you might want to set the X gauge to show average mpg as the real time mpg reading is all over the place..
X gauges are a bit of a cluster f--- to set up but the average mpg setup goes like this=
Quote:
From the home screen ( button with red around it ), hit more>more>more>xgauge

Now you can select the memory slot. If its already on 0 and this is the first xgauge you are creating, go ahead and hit the edit button.

You should now be at the TXD screen
Use the + and - buttons on the left side so that the first number is 0 Then use the arrow button on the right side to move over one space Now it depends on what trip function you want to use..
use the + or - again to adjust
0 - for current trip which resets every time you start the vehicle
1 - for today trip which resets after 10 hours of ignition off time
2- for previous day
4- for tank trip

on mine I have 01 for average fuel economy today

next hit the OK button
You should now be at the RXF screen
use the + or - buttons until the first digit is 8.
Then push OK button 3 times until you get to the name screen
Here you can pick any three letters to name your gauge.
I used AFT for average fuel today
Then hit save
Now you can go back to the home screen and hit gauge. Select which of the four spot you want the gauge to appear and hit the button until see the three letters that you just used to name your gauge.

So I got it in the mail today, and so far I love it.

Still need to mess around with it and get it fully programmed. I think I'm going to zip tie / mount it to my GPS unit.

So far it seems to be fairly accurate when it comes to usage, I just need to get it calibrated and fully set before I trust it any further (not to mention do some math to make sure it's not sweet talking me).

if you fill up using the exact same gas pump, parked the exact same way, and stop at the first
click every time, it cannot do anything but calibrate itself correctly over 2 or 3 tanks. this may vary.
preprogram it for a 2.9 offset and it'll be really close to perfect

(given you do the initial setup properly)

because that is what my offset ended up to be and
2.9 will probably get you accurate mileage from the first tank

you can choose not to set it, and it'll take 3 or 4 tanks to
be sure the offset is accurate. 'cuz your first two tanks will be
off, and leave you wondering. you'll prob end up at 2.9 or 3.2
anyhow if you have a 1.5 liter yaris

I just can't find a good place to mount this damn thing....

I think I'm going to try and fasten it to the bottom of my GPS mount. That's tomorrow's task.

I popped off my A-pillar trim and ran it up there, under the headliner, and mounted it on top of the rear-view mirror. Not a bad spot for it... although a bit hard to read when it's bright out due to contrast.

I don't trust this thing till it's calibrated... but I'm averaging 30-42mpg on the highway on trips.

I set the 11gallon tank
I set the 1.5 Liter engine

The only puzzling thing for me was when I did a full fillup it asked me to cycle though (very slowly I might add) how much I put in the car. I assume I don't touch that and leave it at zero? The quick reference guide wasn't very helpful or specific on that.

you tell it how much gas you put in

if it's estimate is exact and shows what you put in, don't touch it

if it is off, adjust it by what you actually put in

then put in the cost

it is all in the user manual
