i use the "timer" function on my xA that was built into my alarm. it's nice to leave the car running, run into the store for 1 minute to get that early morning monster, and leave the car running. saves wear and tear on your car too.

now, why someone would spend the money on an HKS turbo timer instead of a simple "remote start" box for half the price is beyond me.

OP, look up the EWD for the ECU and you'll find all the wires you need.

But I thought turning off the engine was better (mpg-wise + wear and tear) over idling for more than 20 seconds or thereabouts... I turn my engine off at the traffic lights that I know are going to take a while.

As far as I know the longevity of an engine is affected by the number of "cold starts", but starting the engine after waiting at the traffic light for 90 seconds can hardly be classified as a "cold start".

Wear and tear are worst at startup IMO

starting an engine at any time means you're cranking without oil pressure

go read the book "drive it forever"
