I bought my yaris with 200,000km and now at 270k in 2 years. Only use standard 5w30 and it's been excellent. Changing every 7-8000km. Mix of town and highway driving. Car runs like new still.

Some people spend more than that on pizza every week.

That's exactly how much I spend on pizza every week. Plus the tip.

Best price I had so far for a 5L of Napa premium synthetic oil is $23.85 CAD with taxes on sale.

I use Dexos certified Synthetic oil 5-30 from Wallmart and Hi capacity/ large Wix filters.
The maintenance light comes on and the oil is changed.
I received the car with 17,ooo miles in 2020, it has 72,ooo on the clock.
I change the Tranny at thirty thousand and sixty (simple grain and fill appx. three quarts).
I changed spark plugs NKG replacement at 50,ooo.
I will Bleed brakes in the next few weeks to keep that system clean.
My car runs like it is new! For a Toyota it almost is! It just purrzzzzz!

The best of luck on your decision.

"Oil and filters are cheap!".
Engines are expensive... simple math.

I have higher end drilled and slotted rotors, and Brembo Pads for when I Bleed the brakes.

That motor just finished breaking in @ 168,000 miles. That car has a ways to go! You are changing it by service standards so it will work. Good luck with it.

My '09 1.5 5speed manual has been getting 10-13k mile oil changes with the super tech brand from Walfart, and their filters too. I have upwards of 270k miles on it now. I get 42mpg winter gas, 48mpg summer blend, easily. I changed my oil yesterday, I lost almost 3/4 of a quart in 10,400 miles. I'm mainly highway and suburb driving though.

I bought my 2007 hatchback new. At 67,000 I switched over from dino oil to Mobile 1 and that's what I've been using ever since. I run it 8,000 miles, with a filter change at about 4,000. I've used Baldwin B33 filters from the beginning. Car is now at 154,000 and all seems to be fine.

I'm in the north. I get about 34-36mpg in the summer w/o ac. In the winter it drops to anywhere from 29-34 depending on how bitter the cold is.

Bought yaris gen 2 in 2007. Did oil changes with Toyota Genuine oil every 15000km with 1 extra oil change half way through each interval. (so every 7500km)

When Covid started, I accidentally bought too much oil (did not see expiry dates on bottle)

So I had to reduce OCI to 3 months for a period of three years

2 months ago, I cracked my oil sump. Had it changed and I saw varnish at the bottom of the oil sump, at least a quarter of the sump had varnish.

So screw it, I change oil every 6-8 weeks now. I leave the filter for 6 months.

We need to sue Liqui moly for having an expiry date on their oil bottles. Then we need to sue them again for putting a note on their bottle that says we must use oil within 5 years.
