Unable to turn off Xtrons D708 Safety Message

Does anyone here have an Xtrons D708? I got this unit on ebay for around $230 free shipping. Details here --> http://www.xtrons.com/doce/productdetail.aspx?pid=60

Not a bad price. Anyways, I got it all set up and installed in my car, but for some reason it just won't let me watch TV.

This unit has a built-in TV tuner, and I can watch anything that I can catch in the air, but everytime I try to, the picture comes up just briefly, and it goes to a blue screen that says "picture is disabled for your safety".. Now I've tried this with the car parked, with the handbrake on, everything. It always gives that message and I just can't watch TV. I've read through the manual from cover to cover. I thought maybe out of sheer luck, someone on here might have some experience with these units, and maybe get me an answer. i've already emailed the seller, I'm still waiting to hear back from him.

If you have a wire on the unit that goes to your park brake try putting the park brake on for a second, release it, then re apply it. I am not familiar with that brand but this works on some other brands.

I'll definitely check that out. Thanks!

I just bought a similar sort of headunit that can watch movies, and the seller actually did the video bypass for me. When I asked him what exactly it was, he said this:

it's actually a relay that i put in with the remote turn on wire and the brake wire. is necessary to do this so it switches the ground to the brake wire.this way u dont put a hole for a switch to watch video.

So, I think you can fix it by putting a relay in on the brake wire. Or something like that. Google it and I think you'll find a better answer if what I said makese no sense.

D708

I installed an Xtrons D708 yesterday and had the same problem.

The solutions is easy: Simply connect the "Parking"-wire to the "Ground"-wire (black). That's it.

Ehm.. do you know which TV-tuner is installed? Is it DVB-T or something like that?

Cheers,
