Was someone actually considering this or is this just a stupid joke? What sane person would ever consider the Fiesta over a Yaris? If they did, they should be locked up for their own protection.

Working at a Ford dealership and owning a Yaris. I'd go with Yaris hands down. I hate the Fiesta's automatic transmissions with the clutch in them. The Fiesta's do have nice interiors in them though ;)

But, it's not joke. Most publications have the Fiesta rated over Yaris in most categories. |

Each article I have read in such publications leaves me SMH. Re the Yaris, publications almost invariably pick the most bland color combinations and they always pick options that hinder performance, AND I HAVE YET TO SEE ONE TEST OR 'QUICK LOOK' , etc. WHERE THEY PICKED A MANUAL TRANSMISSION YARIS AS THE TEST CAR. Consumer reports articles really leave me SMH. They can't taint the objective (reliability) but, re the subjective parts of their reviews, the Yaris gets clobbered. Their Used Car guide (in stores now) is no exception. They go so far as to compliment the Echo quite a bit and then clobber the Yaris as a follow up.

I'm don't put much stock in published reviews (except for possibly U.S. News Car Ratings), but when the majority of professional review favor the Fiesta it gets me to thinking. If the Fiesta is going to spend a considerable amount of time getting repaired while the Yaris is one of the most reliable vehicles built, I get the other specs or irrelevant. |

The Focus and the Fiesta and all the other pretenders with larger engines than the Yaris get 40+ mpg?

It is also why the media are in love with honda's, it is all about the money, especially now when car magazines are dropping like raindrops in a monsoon.

How about 2012 Yaris SE vs. Honda Civic EX Coupe Manual...they were almost the same price out the door but the Civic was a little bit more but added two more amenities...(moon roof & more HP) that's why I went with the Honda...

Ford used to be good...
We had a 1986 escort coupe that lasted till March 2012 and an 1989 Escort wagon that conked out after being hit many times in 2005. You did have to replace stuff (ie. transmission) but they lasted.
