squealing noise with AC on..
Okay...so couple of problems here...first off...my wife's Yaris squeals BIGTIME everytime I turn on the AC. It gets louder when I gun the engine and will eventually go away. But lately..now it squeals when the AC is not on...do I need to replace the AC compressor?
Also...the fan that is under the glove box that shoots the AC into the car is starting to die out and we gotta hit it or kick it to get it to blast on. Anyone ever replace that? I would like to get the squealing fixed first...is it easy to replace the compressor? Or could it be something else? Thanks guys... |

Like Exiwolfman said, it sounds like your belt might be glazed over.
Replacing belts are much cheaper than replacing compressors. Try that first. |

Your belt either needs to be tightened, or replacement.
And does your blower fan have the filter installed? If it only works on the "high" setting then all you need is a replacement blower resistor module. It controls the power to the fan to make it work on lower settings. |

thanks guys...I'll try the belt first. The blower works on all settings..but the fan under the glove needs a kick or a SLAP to blow to the setting on the fan control...but it blows on all settings. I'll try to get the belt changed in the next couple of days. Is it a easy change? I've never changed a belt on the Yaris...thanks

Yeah the belt is VERY easy to change.
Just loosen the bolt on top of the alternator and if you can the bolt on the bottom. Sometimes you can get it move with just the top loose. Sent from my iPod Touch |
