Do I have ABS or not?

Alrighty, so I drive a 2008 sedan. I have no idea what package it is as i bought it used. I know that I've never seen an ABS light illuminate on my dash so I just assumed I didn't have it. BUT yesterday I was experimenting with the power steering and removed the fuse to see how I liked it and noticed that there was not a fuse in the spot labeled ABS. Now does this mean that I have it and there just hasn't been a fuse in it, or is it just pre-wired for ABS and I don't have the option? Thanks in advance

You don't have it. If you did and the ABS fuse was pulled the ABS ECU, which is powered by the ECU-IG fuse would light up the ABS light. The 30A abs fuse is for the actuator, and the ECU-IG fuse is for the logic.

Then a whole lot of other stuff wouldn't work on your car.

also, look for wheel speed sensor wiring on your rear hubs (easy to see).

I am most interested in this. Is it therefore not a legal requirement for every car to have ABS brakes in the USA? Here in UK every car has been fitted with ABS as a legal requirement for a good many years. Just interested you understand.

It is still not mandated in the US, but it became a standard feature on the Yaris starting in 2009.

Thankfully we were able to escape the evil electro nannies in the early models of the 2nd gen Yaris. Nowadays though it is almost impossible to buy a toyota without its full spectrum of electro nannies to dumb down a car.

The government has no business telling people what they have to buy in their cars. Totally absurd.

It was alright. But under lower speeds it's just a hassle. Higher speeds It seems like there's less wander.
