My original battery lasted about 5.5 years, but my Yaris sits for extended periods and is often only started to move it around in my driveway so I can get my Jeep in and out of the garage. I was impressed that it lasted that long, but it died a long, agonizing death. The quick-turn starting mechanism quit working around last October, and it had to be jump-started a few times after sitting for several weeks. I finally relented and bought one of the NAPA batteries CTScott recommended, and it's been starting great ever since!
