109bhp and 105ft torque, from my understanding. It does wiegh more than the Yaris, but not by much. But Yaris FTW

DAMN ELECTRONIC LIFT!

Yeah the Fit will win because of the VTEC and the CVT because it doesn't shift and lose .5seconds off the acceleration and the VTEC gives it lift at around 4K -REDline!

But still the Fit is fuggin slow at below 4K RPM.

You should have raced him on tight corners and alleys that 1 inch difference is the life and death of the race! THEN THE YARIS (or Fortwo) is/are KING(s)!!!

Yaris is "precision" driving wise...

(I just found a $10,800 new Yaris and I might buy it next month!

I did get to run with a Fit(manual transmision) vs Yaris Sedan(M/T and on 18's) and I beat him 4 times 2 time heads up from 0 mph and 2 from 1st gear from 15mph. I don't know but he felt back as soon as my car hit 5000rpm and the vvti kicked in on 2nd. He then felt back and back and we ran up to 85 mph and he couldn't keep up.

Well thats my expirience with a fit. I'am still hunting down a Suzuki SX4 (I see him every thursday night (day of street racing where I live) to see how much he pulls off but he allways is goin in the opposite direction

You guys do know the VVTI is used throughout the entire RPM range at all throttle settings and not just at a certain RPM or throttle setting, right? It doesn't "kick in," it's working all the time.

Actually I didn't konw that and that wasn't the way the salesman explained it to me however I haven't done any research on the subject. Interesting

The "I" in VVTI stands for intuitive. This means the computer continuously adjusts (retards or advances) the ignition timing at all throttle settings and RPMs to maintain optimum engine performance and efficiency. A lot of people think it only works at full throttle and only at high RPMs. This is true of many of the older VVT engines, but not the VVTI engines. The intuitive part is very nifty. Keep in mind, salesmen typically know more about sales than they do about what they're selling ;0)

The CVT wouldn't stand a chance against a manual equipped Yaris.

The Fit most have a good CVT system if it can out gun the auto Yaris. An interesting side... the base Mini Cooper could be had with a CVT or a regular automatic transmission. The regular slush-box in that car was actually quicker then CVT model...

That's just because the Yari engine doesn't make any power (regardless of what the VVTI is doing) until it hits 5K.
