used yarii are more expensive now than when i bought mine 2 years ago
no kidding. i'm trying to help a friend of mine find a low mileage 07-08 sedan and the prices are much higher than they were when i purchased my 07 sedan in 2010. i guess the gas price is driving this. anyone else notice this?

If you can't buy a new sedan, you have to fight harder to get a used sedan.
After my Echo got wrecked in 2010, I looked for a "good" used one to replace it. They were selling for way more than what I thought they would. People that know what great little cars they are, are willing to pay to get one. |

The price of gas--or the prospected price--has a large influence on used car dealership inventory. Case in point, when I bought my Yaris last year the dealership was about to send it back to auction. The price of gas was about to spike, so they kept it on the lot. They didn't know what they had, and the original salesman's quote on it was $9k. Higher mileage, older Yarii in the area were going for $11-12K or more. This year, used are in the $14-15K range, and new ones are almost $18k. Yes, $18,000 for a new Yaris!
*edit* A quick browse for xD's in the area shows a few used around $14k, and new barebones are only $17k. Who's in charge of this madness? |

a few months ago when i bought mine i was pretty much dead set on getting a new one because it was already happening here, loaded used one with low miles($14-15k range) were just as much as a brand new base (which now includes power). went and test drove a few 2012s with 17k+ stickers. all the while kept looking and found two 08s, both base models 5sp, with around 30k miles for 10k. one white the other grey(graphite?). i would have liked the grey one but the white stays so much cooler down here
got the white one |
