No Windshield Washer Fluid Light

Today I ran out of Windshield Washer Fluid, but my light never came on. I have a 2008 Sedan. Was it just never designed to turn on? I can see the outline of the light when the sun strikes the dash.

Assuming you did actually run out (and a hose didn't fall off the pump, and you can hear the pump working, and the tank is actually empty), maybe your sensor is stuck or something. Take it to the dealer, the warranty wasn't free, doesn't hurt to use

Good idea BuildCode. I actually did run out, because I just filled it up and it works perfectly again. Maybe I will tell the dealer to look into it.

Didn't you get the recall notice to have it repaired?

AFAIK you only get a warning light if your car has the "all weather" package. Are each of you sure you have that?

So... you must have the all-weather package to get a low washer fluid light?

*nod* It's a bullet on the list of things in the All Weather package. I remember it reading like:

"Larger washer fluid reservoir and a low fluid level indicator light."

Here it is. Note that it is indeed part of the All Weather package:

Bailout, if that's true, how come I still see the outline of the light? Is that just some kind of default setup for all Yaris Dash?

I imagine so, just like some of our clusters have cruise control indicators whether we have that package or not, and just like our dashes have the cutout/pop-out space to mount a push start button even though it isn't offered in NA.

It is too expensive for a manufacturer to have to design, build, maintain and support too many variations of anything in a vehicle.

Haha wow that is hilarious. As if you need the all weather package for that to work. My guess is they just did not include the proper sensor in the washer tank, though. Or maybe the larger tank comes with the sensor.

Meh. I believe the all weather package is standard here in Canada, which is what I got ...
