GT28 OK for 1.5 Yaris engine?

Is this too much turbo for our cars? Stock internals.

Reason I ask is it seems everyone goes with the T25 turbos, but some of the more economical e-bay ones do not have ball bearings. This unit on the other hand looks a little better made. Not sure about the compressor side w/72 trim. Too much?

Yes that turbo will work with out cars. It is a little big & would work better for a 1.8+ liter engine but considering that you will run low boost it will work. The .63 A/R on the turbine side is more important of a # the the 72 trim of the compressor. You want to run a small A/R on the turbine side quicker spooling.

Thanks for the input. I decided to go with the GT25. Seems to be the most popular choice for our little engines. Not looking for more than 6 or 7lbs of boost so I can keep the stock internals. Almost done buying the parts.

a GT30 will work too, but that doesn't make it a good choice (well, it would be good for a drag application).

GT25 will be good and nimble for you.

GT this, T that is not the question that should determine the turbo used. Turbos have alot of specs that determine on what size engine it will work best on & how quickly it will spool....

Very good link. Thanks. It's been a while since I mess with this stuff. Forgot most of it. Last car I worked on was turbocharging a Ford Focus back in 2000(ish).

yes, but within the Garrett GT family of turbos, it IS a valid question. As long as you are comparing apples to apples, it's a fair comparison.

Further I have PERSONALLY used both the GT25 and 28 in my car, and I know the difference. Next is a GT2871, then I'll know the difference with that too.

So I already installed the new plugs, Fuel pump arrives tomorrow and I should have the new injectors by Friday.
