Weight Savers
This could go under fuel economy too, but for me it's a performance issue.
Please post up anything you've taken out of the car and WEIGHED. I'd like to start a list (like we used to have) of what the savings are on each item. I can start with rear 60/40 seats, which I removed this morning. 40% seat = 35.5 pounds 60% seat = 55 pounds TOTAL = 90.5 pounds 3 rear seat belts are next.

I think it would be appreciated by all if the comedy were left out of this thread.
The one-piece rear seat weighed as follows: Rear Bottom - 11.0 Rear Bottom Support - 6.0 Parcel Shelf - 1.5 Rear Back - 36.5 Belts (all) - 7.5 Total - 62.5 Stock steel wheels weigh around 19 pounds each. Replacing them with readily available 12 pound alloys saves a total of 28 pounds (and it's rotating mass, which really helps acceleration and braking... and unsprung weight, which helps ride quality and handling over rough surfaces). |

I have removed the rear trunk area, plastic compartments and spare tire but I do not have a scale available. Could someone please find the weight of these components? Thank you

front door panels = 8 pounds each (7lbs, 14oz.)

the headliner felt like it weighed 3-5 lbs.
The carpet felt like it weighed 15 lbs, (no scale). Does anyone know where I can get the entire car weighed here in Socal? |

good question. some recycling places might let you drive onto the scale, or let me ask Rick over at the shop. I'd like to weigh mine too.

contact any race shop to get your car weighed... they shouldnt charge you much, but they would also be able to tell you corner weights just make sure your tires are properly inflated before you go on the scales

shoot, go to a junk yard. If you ask them they might let you drive your car onto their truck scale. You could always slip them some money, lol.

Brake pedal assembly: 9 lbs. Clutch assembly: 7 lbs. Plastic gas pedal assembly: 2 lbs. I suggest keeping the gas pedal, otherwise you can't even go...
Sorry, couldn't resist. |

True, however if one's car is filled with garbage, they are most likely not as concerned about negative effects of weight addition as the rest of us.
