Official: Toyota dropping the Matrix after 2013 (from U.S.)

Sales have been dwindling in recent years so we will not see a next generation model alongside the new Corolla sedan. Too bad.

It seems like Toyota keeps dropping key models. No sub-compact sedan. No compact wagon. Of course, the rest of the world gets all kinds of choices in these segments.

I see tons of Matrix's on the road with combined sales over 10 years but I guess Toyota doesn't feel it's worth it to bring a fresh new model over. I think a new one would really revitalize sales but oh well.

Toyota should bring over the Corolla Tourer as the new Matrix.

IMHO, the Matrix has always been a really ugly car! Good riddance.

I'd be seriously interested in a good looking compact wagon... like the Corolla Tourer.

We had an '03 base model with the automatic . Traded it in at 50,000+ miles . Did fit a 5 h.p. snowblower in it . The rear outside door handle started to rust . Have seen others do the same . Otherwise very dependable and kept its book value well .

I had considered the Matrix but it was a little too big.
I think if they'd make a more powerful car that looked similar to the Yaris...

I'd be on for it when I decided to buy a new car again.
I love hatchbacks honestly, and I think I'll be staying with this style.

I used to see a lot of them in California. Here (Why=?) I see a lot more of the 'old twin', the Pontiac Vibe.

Seems like they're pushing the new Prius line as the replacement.

They're citing slow sales as the reason, but I see tons of Matrix's. Granted, it's 10 years worth of sales accumulated.

The Tourer looks like a mini-Sienna.

I had considered a Matrix for the hatchback and storage room. However, a stick shift
was hard to find, and I opted for the better gas mileage of the Yaris.
