Tire vs. tire comparison

Falkin Ziex ZE950's vs. General Altimax RT43 v size 195/55/R15 vs. 195/60/R15. Any thoughts? Which is better on the Yaris 3 door. So Cal driving (no rain).

On stock suspension, I'd go with 195/60/15.

I'd pass on the Falkens because the tread pattern makes for terrible highway wander on the Yaris.

Just got 41.97 m.p.g. calculated with the base '13 FIT w/ the 5 speed auto . That has 175/65-15 RT43 H rated . There's close to 9,800 miles on them since last October . They start at 10/32s' and are slighlty below 9/32s' . Keep them at 34 > 36 p.s.i.. The 46 was on way home after a fill of SUNOCO 91 w/o E . Usually try to get VALERO 91 non E . VALERO is now a Top Tier gas . May get RT 43s' for the '11 base FIT next April .

Well , the 2 of us went out to shop and it's back to reality . Driving was state roads , city ( stop lights / signs , traffic turning ) and interstate . Was a bit windy and some fairly long inclines . The FITs are not interstate friendly , a bit of a chore to keep around 65 m.p.h.. Don't pamper it all that much .

how low?

I am impressed with how well the general altimax tires handle in the dry. I figured they would be worse than what I was coming from because they actually have rain and snow traction, but they are 90% as good as the Yokohama's I came from.

Toyota runs 205/45/17 (24.3) on TRD's, so you will be fine with 195/60/15 (24.2) as long as you maintain reasonable wheel specs.

I'm on 205/45R16 and lowered -1.5" on Tanabe's. It could be lower easily.

Rest of tank with the 43s' . Calculated : 42.36 m.p.g. (349.5 mis. / 8.25 gals. ) . Best tank since purchased new . About 3/4 of tank was 2 people . Bumped T.P. up close to 37 . Here's how the 43s' are wearing . Not so bad . Close to 10,000 miles .
