I got mine on Friday... just in time for a long-distance trip over the weekend.

With the ecometer, I was able to get 51.43 mpg over 320 mi (95% hwy/5% "city"... hwy cruising speed was 75% @ 55-65 mph, 25% @ 65-75 mph). A/C on for 80% of the trip (off when going up hills).

This device let me better gauge when to go easy on the accelerator.

Good stuff.

just got mine yesterday, damn Fedex guy threw it over our fence and didnt ring the doorbell or anything. i put 40 miles of freeway on the tank before i plugged it tho. I learned alot in the 40 minutes of city driving of today. I wish you didnt have to cycle through the gauges and instead go left or right to them. Cant wait to fill up.

Glad you guys got em.

Cosworth, nice numbers. Were you able to compare the ecometer's avg mpg to "an old fashioned" calculation at fill up? Just curious how close it was. TIA

Temporarily mounted mine behind the steering wheel, but in front of the glove box on the steering wheel shroud. It's nice, but I don't like how obstructed it gets while the wheel is turned. I think I may screw it to the side/toppish of the gauge cluster.

Very awesome thing to have, I just pounded the streets for five minutes with it and love it.

you guys notice the lag time, from when the car is stopped till the gauge reads 0 inst. mpg? like a few seconds for me. I wonder how instantaneous it really is to how you move your foot.

I don't notice any lag time -- at least not seconds long.

The meter actually underestimated the average mpg (meter read ~49.x mpg). However, I need to stick to one gas pump (at a gas station) to really see where the difference might come from.

Nice! I agree-the meter gets close enough that is makes you wonder which is more accurate, the pump method or the meter.

ezhacker,

I've noticed it sometimes takes a couple of seconds to register when I first start driving, but have not noticed any lag time after that. I'll keep a closer eye for it here in the next few days.

Maybe a second or two tops to get down to 0. I would say it is just your brain processing every number that is displayed as it gets down. And of course, the higher the instantaneous MPG number is, the longer it takes to get to 0.

the numbers in inst. mpg doesnt refresh THAT fast, lol. id say it takes 1.5-2 seconds for it to reach 0 after a complete stop.

i also noticed that in DFCO if you put your foot on the accel. pedal just slightly it keeps it in DFCO, or close to it, meter reads way above 40s. Actually i thought DFCO would change the avg. mpg. higher alot faster. But i guess it balances out when accelerating from stop is like 10mpg or whatever low number going lightly.

Actually, mine does lag when I first turn the car on. It doesn't start reading until a second or two later.

Did anyone else feel the need to notch out the area around the OBDII port? I cut a little piece of plastic out and now the cabel isn't wedged up in there.

i just got 44.52mpg driving 10-15% city, rest highway. Not a tank fill because i really wanted to see what it would be on a long distance run of 70miles highway. (first time long distance on freeway ever so i cant comment on before) Ecometer read 45.2 avg, so just about a 1.5% overestimate, but i only put in 2.566gal so there you go.

i am soooo happy, great little meter.

I finally got to fill up again today. Traveled 398.2 mi and took 9.703 gal to fill up for an avg of 41.03 mpg! The ecometer avg read 41.2 so it's right there. It is probably more accurate than calculating at the pump.

What's remarkable to me is this is my best tank yet and I had no longish trips on this fill. I had a single trip of 15 mi on this tank and all others were 10 mi or less of rural/city driving. It was also raining most of the time. I used only basic/moderate hypermiling techniques.

I love this little car and the ecometer makes it even better!

I know it could be apples and oranges, but does anyone have both a scangauge and the ecometer? Just for comparison sake performance-wise. I know the ecometer is more inexpensive and looks more stylish, but I'm curious about side-by side performance.

I think everyone forgot I'm an Autometer dealer and can beat other's pricing.

Is the best price out there still about $80 shipped?

anyways.... I have two in stock.
