Wow

I just managed 4.5 l/100 km (52 mpg) on a 16km (9 miles) mile trip in the country, I wanted to see how good a result I could get and I am mighty impressed. A steady 55 kph (35 mph) at 19TPS.

2006 2 dr LB 5-speed

Now that I am being forced to use ethanol gas, and it's winter, my last two tanks have dropped to 39.6 and 39.8 mpg. That also includes a few times of idling 5 minutes or so, something I never do when warmer.

Using cruise control, no head wind, speed kept to 55mph, no stops/starts...my Yaris consistently gets 43-45mpg. Going at constant 70mph...37-39 mpg. Typical headwind drops mileage by about 5-6mpg. Strong head wind at highway speed of 70mph...30-35mpg. Strong tail wind at 55mph...60-66 mpg.

I just bought my '08 Yaris, MT, liftback

I drive 450-500 miles a week and 90% is flat highway with cruise control on.

last fill ups to first:

35.84mpg - 10.3 gal 2-20-12
35.61mpg - 10.5 gal 2-15-12
36.52mpg - 9.99 gal 2-10-12
37.71mpg - 6.71 gal 2-6-12

I do have a question when filling. Do you just stop when the handle clicks or keep putting gas in it to round it up to make an even dollar amount?

i usually round up, since the gas is expensive, it wont overflow because you wont be getting much from the rounding up to the dollar portion of gas. Unless you go for another dollar or two, then you might overflow.

Always at the 1st click of the nozzle . Good gas mileage you're getting . Will get better with warmer weather and summer blend of gas . Probably a rise of 3 m.p.g.. Enjoy .

51 mpg with a 2008 D4D. and that was quite a lot of city driving. When driving 60mph the meter says 3.8l/100km so thats 62mpg! Gotta love a MT diesel.

2010 Yaris 4 dr Sedan purchased in Apr 2011. ~13,000 km to date (about 8,100 miles).

Best: 44.4 MPG (US)
Worst: 28.7 MPG (US)
Average: 38 MPG (US)

I always stop fuelling at the first click on the pump. Winter has been a killer on my mileage here in Canada (see worst tank).

Also, not to go too far off topic, but I have to give a shout out to CTScott for helping me set up the cruise control on my Yaris. Wouldn't be breaking 40mpg without it.

Yay first post! I just barely got my 08 3Dr Manual. So far I got (from oldest to newest tank): 43.6, 46.3, 49.3, & 48.6 mpg.

I came from a 98 saturn SL1 where I got between 44 & 47 mpg regularly.
