I had mine for almost 5 years, still on same battery. My 03 sienna stock battery lasted 9 years :)

I just read my 3-26-12 post. I must have been really tired when I typed it because my math was off. I had just hit 70,000 miles on my second battery, not 80,000 miles (208,000 - 138,000 is 70,000 not 80,000). A few days after that post I left for Florida and just returned today -- 5,265 miles from 3-30-12 until earlier today (4,245 miles within Florida--it is 510 miles from my house to the FL-AL border). I thus averaged about 263 miles a day and, even given that, I still spent quite a bit of time in city traffic. I hadn't been to Florida since the first year I had my Yaris and it seems as though the traffic lights are now set up with MUCH longer wait times. My Yaris performed admirably on the trip and I now have 214,452 miles on the car and over 76,000 miles on the current second battery. If this second battery makes it to 80,000 miles I will have it tested at that point and replace it if warranted.

When I clicked to submit the post above I had to sign in with my user name again....perhaps that has something to do with why the post shows up twice----and why 6 minutes apart? I was just looking at my 100,000 mile club thread post and I remembered that one thing did go wrong with my Yaris during my trip to Florida....the rear plate light burnt out again (many miles since the last time it burnt out. I was driving from Naples to Orlando on old Highway 17... going 2-5 miles under the speed limit and got pulled over around midnight. I mentioned to the officer that I was going under the speed limit. He said you weren't speeding--your rear plate light is out. He ran my car through to make sure it wasn't stolen and just told me to get it fixed and sent me on my way. When this light burnt out in 2010 I discovered the burn out in the same manner. I had spent the previous day in Fayetteville,AR and was driving to Houston heading West on I-30 toward Dallas at about 2am. This officer handled things differently. He said that the area was (possibly still is) a known drug corridor and searched my car (nothing to find) and then issued me a fix-it ticket for the plate bulb. In both of these cases the fact that it was late at night probably brought more attention, as well as the out of state plates (1st time = had California plates and the recent 2nd time= Texas plates in Florida). I was also just looking at the Yaris Secrets thread and one poster wrote that if you do quite a bit of driving you should change your battery every 2.5 years and you will notice the car has more power after you make the change (I wonder if this is one of the reasons member Trini changes his battery every year)...so I may soon buy a new battery (76,000 miles plus and nearly 2 years 8 months on the current second battery.....138,000 and 35 months on the first battery.)

lol - I left my car sitting for a couple of days, went to start it and didn't crank at all. Tried again, it cranked but would not start. Third time it cranked for about 10 seconds then started but sounded really groggy (you know what I mean).

Time to get a new one.

Anyone know a good type that is the same height as OEM? I am in Canada so Crappy Tire works for me (they will give you $20 back for exchanging your dead one).

The Yaris takes a number 35 battery. 35 is an industry designation and any manufacturers #35 will fit.

BTW, an Auto Zone "Duralast" battey is reported to be very good. It is made by "Johnson Controls", the same company that makes Optima batteries.
I don't know if they expanded up by you yet.

Nope, we don't have any autozone around. We do have NAPA, but they don't generally carry anything for import vehicles.

I'm still running strong on the stock battery :) soon as it kicks the bucket I'm picking up a braille. Maybe sooner, but i hate to let a good battery sit, lol.

The Yaris (or any toyota ) does not need a special import battery. For the Yaris, it's a standard, world wide standard #35.

You just have to ask for a number 35 battery and they will know exactly what to give you.

lol technically you are right, but they consider GM, Ford, Chrysler, etc to be "domestic"

NAPA sells a Duracell battery ... looks pretty good. Only prob is the posts are on the front not the back. I suppose I could always turn the battery around?

Is it a number 35"?

FWIW, when I got a #35 Optima for my Celica, the label would have been upsided down to place the terminals in the proper position. Fortunately, I was able to peel off the label and position it correctly.

Anway, perhaps the Duracell in question is their number 35 and you just have to position the terminals correctly.

The most important question is, when you do turn it around, will the +and - terminals be on their proper sides and not reversed?

Actually yeah I'm a retard LOL the picture just showed it backward. The + and - are on the correct sides.

Speaking of NAPA - I just went there to pick one up and the dumbest kid ever tried to sell me what looked like a 18 wheeler battery... wtf. Didn't have any Duracell, will have to check another store.
