big...225/50R17....the tires were free from work, otherwise they would be lower profile...

Hey! your asking for trouble and If you got ABS brake it will be worse. I almost made the same mistake but a tire dealer gave me the scoops on what can happen if you go oversize. Right now your 8+% over size
Check out this link! I got my info on tire size just input your tire size and input tire size your want if will give the percentage differents and also warn if your choose a oversize tire

225/50R17!! Oh my freakin' god!!

You can't put any size of tire you want on a car man! You have to respect the overall diameter of your stock wheel, that's mean, if you put bigger wheels, you must use slimmer tires to get the same overall diameter what your stock wheels. If you don't put the right tire size and get a bigger overall diameter more than 3%, all your gauges will be mistaken and your ECU will also get bad measurements who will result in major problems.

- For stock 175/65R14, you must use 205/35R17.

- For stock 185/60R15, you must use 205/40R17.

Your Good! your only 1.26 bigger which way under 3%

Perfect sir! No problem at all. I actually use 185-60-14 on the Echo instead of the stock 175-65-14.

If you decide to post a picture of your car on a forum, you have to expect people to make comments about it...I mean not only good comments.

No one has been disrespecting you here, and trust me many would have in other forums. I agree with SimmZ, his suggestions are only for your own good. Instead of telling that all of us, but you alone, are "jerks" because you really want us to understand that you don't care about our comments and suggestions...you should try to do a little research on the importance of wheels and tires specs on a car.

My suggestion, if you don't have the money to buy a good set of tires...don't go buy 17inch wheels! Their's a difference between not having enough money and not knowing what to do with the money you have.

But as long as you're happy with what you have....it's fine with me and you can still be a friend

i have stock r15, can i get 205/45r17? i just dont like the hard ride on the 40s or do i have to go r16 for 45s?

That does seem a little big. Here is one of the best tire calculators that I have seen. If there are any questions that you have about the sizes this site can help ya out. Plug in the old size and the new size and it tells you the differences.

225/50R17 is 12.6% too big for your car, it's just only a small difference. Ask any tires shop or your deal, they will be clear : ***NEVER*** put bigger tires over 3% because you are looking for BIG troubles.

any dealer or repair shop or tire shop for that matter will give you the easiest pile of crap they can find. Sure going outragously huge will have effects whether detrimental or not but unless your putting 20's with lowering springs on your ride you should only have guage readout differences. Your wheel speed sensors will be out slightly but do a mph difference between stock and 17+ not much to worry about. Toyota uses 14" to 18" wheels on the yaris.
Shops will give you whats written in the shop manuals cause most of them cant be bothered to see what sizes will fit. A billion honda owners will say the same thing.
