3/9/14 - Today: AutoZone - Sylvania Halogen Bulb -$11.90 (10.99 + 91c Tax) for failed driver's side low beam (high beams on both driver's side and passenger side are the 7+ year old factory originals). IIRC, when I replaced the last one, I compared this cost to the OEM Toyota bulb at a dealer....and the OEM bulb was almost 4 x as much.

3/9/14 - Today - 275,441 miles:
Toyota dealer installed the Sylvania Halogen Headlight Bulb (service open 9-2), didn't charge me.

P.S. : Scratch the 'High Beams are the originals' -- CTScott pointed out on BeefJerky's 'Headlights Out' thread today that the Yaris headlight bulb = 1 Dual Beam (both high and low) bulb.

^^^^^ I was attempting to edit post #253 (added the P.S.), and somehow it came out as a new post (I DIDN'T type the body of the post a 2nd time).

....Aha...I forgot to log in BEFORE going to the page.

I asked the guys at my local O Reilys to install my headlights. My hand is just too big to fit behind the driver side unit :-/

just shy of 50,000 miles now, couple of syn oil changes, replacing air filter, changed plugs (no difference), still have a low idle stumble every once and a while. just rotated tires and checked brakes front/rear. finally got a ultragauge- the lack of gauges in the base model leaves mea bit worried. have it set up for instant mpg, average mpg, tach, water temp, voltage, and miles till empty- going to see if i can find oil pressure though
been a little while, had to jump on and order some stuff from Garm(microimage)
brakes are getting a little noisy, passenger side pad, although still having more then 50% material left, looks like it has some stress cracking and pedal feel sucks - ordered new rotors and pads, going to flush all the fluid out as well

for future use:
11/5/11 @ 32,500 (purchased shortly before)
4/12/12 @ 50,000
3/15/14 @ 123,494

I hit the 100,000 mile mark on 2/16. Hope to put another 100,000 in the coming years.

3/29/14 -- I thought my first air filter change was at 131,000 + miles, but I noticed in my log book that the first change was at 74,000 + miles. Given this, I'm now somewhat around 'my average' re miles on a filter (replaced at 74k +, 131k + and 208k +)....so I'll probably buy a new air filter next week (now closed for the rest of the weekend, IIRC) at a Toyota dealer and swap it with the old one.

=O I change my air filter + cabin air filter every year! I could probably change my cabin air filter later, but I just don't want any smells in my air.

Expect 100,000 miles with zero problems. 200,000 miles with just a few repairs. And a few other maintenance items through 300,000.

124,818 front pads/rotors and brake fluid
pads still had plenty of material, honestly think I could have gone 200k miles with oem pads- they were just breaking away from the steel backing maybe not broke in properly?
discs could have been reused/turned and reused for sure but I wasn't positive what was causing brake shake so I ordered some r1 rotors and hawk pads from micro image.

rear brakes I changed awhile ago, upon the advice of tire dick around 100k miles . I looked at them before and they didn't have much material... when he mentioned it I figured mileage had been plenty for oem to change anyway. Went ahead and ordered new ones, made the time to change em, pulled the drum off and realized they just don't have much material on them to begin with. But I had new shoes and the time to do it.
btw they quoted me almost 300bux to service rear brakes, so check em yourself they only have maybe 1/8"-3/16" of material

I was flipping the radio dial early this afternon and happened upon a local car maintenance show in the middle of a call. I didn't hear what type of car it was or what was wrong (that came before I tuned in). I did hear that she had purchased the car used with 69k miles on it (which they later said was very low for that car for that model year). One of the hosts asked if the car had been sitting outside for a long time. She said it had. The most experienced host said the air filter may need to be changed. He said (in the thickest local accent you can imagine) if that doesn't work then the impediment might be "a varmint's nest" . I just about fell over laughing. So authentically himself...and knows his stuff. I truly love this state . This little slice of life reminded me that I decided a couple of weeks ago to (in the near future) change the air filter in my Yaris. I stopped by Fred Haas Toyota later in the day (filter was under $22 including tax...same price as the last one, IIRC). So.....

at 277,668 miles ---- Installed new air filter (cost to install = zero....I didn't charge myself )

Yes, Thank you - It still amazes me in regards to the mileage some people here have put on their Yaris' . Just had the 2nd freebie oil change yesterday morning at 6,524 miles, 1 year & 1 day since delivery. Was driving home and noticed the little next oil change due sticky, 11,524...It actually startled me (don't laugh at me Nook, I'm tellin' ya, DON'T laugh!) Oh yeah I'm thinking, 5,000 miles or 6 months....I'll have 11,500 on the ODO in a few years!
I am just so happy with this 'Lil Car, it makes complete sense to own.

I agree. I'm amazed that our little model doesn't have a wider following it the United States.
