Toyota has been famous for this. We actually just buy filters for HVAC units for homes and cut them to fit, tape the cut edges, and install. Saves a lot of cash because you can get 4 filters out of 1. Plus you can get higher levels of filtration.

2011, 3dr hatch, 5-speed, 106k miles.

A/C fan is a little louder and the cup holders buzz a tiny bit if they are open but no drinks in them.

Have done nothing but changed oil (Castrol GTX) every 3k then 4k miles, replaced air filter once, and 1 set of tires which need to be replaced soon.

This is only my second FWD car and I just noticed that these things go through front tires! After "only" 45k miles, the fronts are almost at the wear bars but the rears have a lot of tread left (look new). I guess I should rotate tires every now and then...

The only "mods" are tinted windows, Tanabe Medalion Touring, and Scion wheels.

I thought I was the only one who has experienced this!

I wonder if the roads make a difference. I had a different FWD car when I lived in Orange County (and often drove to different places in LA and LA County) and experienced what you mention above. With my blue Yaris (only a few thousand of all of those miles = on the roads of Southern California) I've averaged 75k per set of 4 (except on two of those sets I squeezed that out of 3 not 4 tires re road hazard replacements)....but I have rotated them .

2010 3dr stick shift, just turned 189k.
rear wheel bearing @ 122k
rear brakes @ 162k, I use the hand brake every time I park so they wore out before the fronts. Front pads still look good.
Also had no cabin filter when purchased.
Change oil every 10k with full synthetic, and it's still good according to my UOA
Great little car and cheap to own, I traded in a VW TDI Sportwagen in on it, and glad I did. Only regret is that Toyota won't sell me a diesel Yaris in the USA.

Hey all,

I've a 2007 Yaris RS absolute red, with about 97k on it.
Appart for the normal maintenance of oil, filters, wipers change, I had to replace my front wiper motor.
Replace the radio, the flashers (plastic teeth broken on both side), the antenna and the battery. I'll have to replace front rotor and pad soon.
Still in very good conditions considering the winters we have here. Since I've had it used, 5 years ago, it has been shot with oil to preserve it from the rust.

Wow. Can't imagine doing only 25K in 7-8 years. TriniPer4mance (member) used to drive that every 2 months!

IIRC, 2009 (your year) = the first year without the OEM alternator having a faulty voltage regulator. I sometimes wonder had my first experience with a Yaris been with the alternator in the 2009, would I still have the OEM alternator in my car (the OEM one with the faulty voltage regulator conked out at just under 160,000 miles).

2007 Polar White Sedan
Just on the edge of 66,000 miles

No major repairs yet, just the usual servicing, replacing the rusted horn, having my back bumper repainted (due to it being a rental car and suitcases were being rubbed on it, causing paint to chip) and having to fix a leak in the AC

Starting to put more aftermarket parts into it now so things are looking up

I love the back of my car, the front... not so much

for future use:
11/5/11 @ 32,500 (purchased shortly before)
4/12/12 @ 50,000
3/15/14 @ 123,494
Jumped on to see if we needed to be worried bout airbag recall
I see a few more high mileage cars have come around
No issues since last check in, and I get the cup holder buzz, without the cabin filter I also get stuff down in the HVAC blower wheel too
10/23/14 @ 141,000

2007 Yaris Liftback
Blazing Blue Metallic
80,000 miles

2 new sets of tires (both Yokohama ~30,000 & ~60,000)
New brakes last summer (~60,000 miles)
Replaced driver window seal
Nothing other than routine oil changes, etc.

It has started running loud...a friend mentioned maybe the muffler might be bad. Hopefully it's nothing major.
