Air Horns

Has anyone installed air horns in an 07 sedan? If so, where did you locate them in the engine bay and where is the factory horn located? Also, what length of horns has anyone installed? If anyone else is interested in this, here are two sites that sell a variety of them.

Inexpensive, lower end:

For LB, the horn is behind the grille and in front of the radiator. I think the sedan will be in the same location.

Awesome! Thanks! That was my guess. I just didnt' get a chance to check it this morning before I left for work. Hopefully, there will be enough room for some 12 inch horns in there. :)

You need the bumper off to get access to the horn but there isn't much room if you are thinking of anything too thick. My horns just clear the grill area.

Dont forget the air tank, compressor, valve, pressure switch and interior gauge and switch you will still need to mount... thats if your still talking about the Train Horns.

The horn I was considering has two trumpets which are roughly 12" long. Think they might fit there? I was considering mounting them somewhere between the engine and the firewall.

Oh no. I'm not planning on a train horn. I would love to, but all the space lost and weight gained doesn't make it sound too attractive. I'm just thinking of a cheap, twin trumpet setup with a little compressor. The trumpets are roughly 12" long. It's the Model 417 Long Horn made by Wolo, http://www.wolo-mfg.com/air.htm. Has anyone tried any of the Wolo horns.

There's a good bit of space behind the liftback nose. I don't know about the sedan.

I ordered them already - they shipped the other day and I hope to have them today. I'm planning on installing them this weekend along with my head unit.

But yes, we should get together sometime - perhaps do a dual cruise control install.

So, would you agree with SmellyToFu that the bumber needs to come off to access that space?

On the liftback - yes.

Yes it's easy.. just a pain in the @$$ to do it. :)

It's hard to show it but here's my horns.. there's not a lot of clearance (maybe a finger thick) between the bellow part of the horn and the grill.

There is already a hole here (right side horn), I just had to trim the plastic to get to it:

(I took the right headlight off to get at an existing ground to chasis bolt and ran the ground wire with the existing harness.)

Sounds great! Much louder than the stock *meep* and a nice two tone note.

PIAA also makes a 400 and 500 Hz set. I chose the higher pair because I think the lower note would confuse other drivers. They'd be looking for a bigger car or truck.

Nice.. is the PIAA sports horn have more bass? I am thinking to replace the stock one.. since it sounds so thin.

Much more noticeable sound.

I've done this with every car I've had since an 18 wheeler changed lanes into my Miata at 75 mph and didn't hear my little horn until he nearly ran me over.
