Stereo Error 1. Losing My Mind

Greetings to All. Well It's been months since i've had this problem but now it's just happens everytime. after I turn on the car, the factory radio tries to read the cd for like 5 minz and then says error 1. i have to eject the cd like 100 times & load back in or sometimes even come back later in the hopes that it might read the cd. i've tried different brands of cd's & everything. called the dealer & the douche in there said since they most likely won't even look at it since the car had it's speakers upgraded..... at the moment i can't afford an aftermarket HU but would appreciate any feedbacks for a walkaround of this issue.

Peace.

You could try a cleaner CD but I wouldn't hold your breath. I'm guessing its toast. If you check the for sale section there are usually people selling stock stereos for cheap. I have a black double din from an 07 sedan sitting in my room that I only used for the drive from the dealership to my house...

you know i was thinking there could be such thing. so they really make them.nice, well where do i find this cleaner cd; though im pretty sure its got something to do with the ungodly high temperatures here in San Diego, CA. if that didnt work i guess i gotta pay up for an aftermarket or like u mentioned oem one. thanks in advance.

It's not because of the high temperatures. The stock head unit in my '07 LB worked fine all summer (regularly over 103F) and the whole time I had that '07 LB and I park outside all the time.

It sounds like the reader itself is malfunctioning. There are lots of OEM units for sale in the forums for cheap, so you might want to check it out.

I have an '08 Stock radio from my Sedan just sitting in my closet. It was the first thing I replaced when I got the car about a month after. Make me an offer? I'm in Canada though so shipping might rape you =)

Pretty sure it looks like this only it's silver...

I haven't looked at it in a while.

I have a JVC stereo, front aux imput, direct connect iPod from rear (cable included), remote, cd... It's just sitting in my closet (well, soon to be sitting at my parents house for storage). I'll sell for cheap...

thank you all for your responses. as much as i'd LOVE to put in an aftermarket HU, im about saving some bling bling right now to get one of them pioneer double dins sometime in the future; anyways for the duration i was hoping to get away with fixing the original itself. my options right now: buy oem or aftermarket, hookup ipod or drive the car over a cliff. being i don't have gap insurance on i can't go with the last option(my favorite option).

thanks again. i'll look into cleaner cd's & if that doesn't do the trick i'll figure something out.

Regards

Stereo Error 1

Dear all,

I am also getting this ERROR 1 whenever I put the DVD which have all MP3 songs. Apart from cleaning is anything else we can do or replacement is the only option?

Thank you,
Amit
