another custom short throw shifter!

well, rather than buy the TWM one, I decided to make my own. The stick has been shortened about 3 inches. I didnt have to adjust the seat or anything for it to feel comfertable. Much quicker shifts and alot more enjoyable than the truck shifter.

This pic is also a way to show off the custom plate I made to install my stereo (my yaris didnt have a radio when i purchased it new from the dealership...how cheap).

If you wouldn't mind, explain... What about the ergonomics of a shift changes as you change that point? Does that make sense?

You could even go a step farther and explain how you'd do it on a Yaris, because I did the same thing he did and I would like to know if there is anything I can do to improve the shift assembly further other than get new bushings. Would this involve modifying that plastic cage?

Don't get me wrong, for the whopping price of free I'm stoked with what I have. I just want some options.

no, its not a "true" short throw shifter because it does not change the pivot point, but, its still a shorter throw and it works better and looks nicer.

He is correct it is NOT truely a "short throw shifter".
All he did was shorten the upper portion of the shaft.
I will be making one soon. At that point I'll go into more detail on how to make one yourselves.
Just give a week or so to make the DIY

Hey if you are happy then more power to ya.

But as others have said, you have not built a true short shifter. A true short shifter moves the bottom piece of the shaft further down. This is how you actually reduce throws. In my opinion money spent on a real short shifter is money well spent
