2007 yaris cabin filter arrow up or down ?

just bought fram freshbreeze cabin (a/c) filter. fram directions say install with air flow indicator arrow pointing down (towards the blower fan). yaris manual says when inserting the filter in the filter outlet, keep the arrow pointing up. confused, up or down. should charcoal side of filter be closer to blower fan or closer to air inlet.

The air flow for the cabin filter is from top to down . This can be proven by removing the filter and turning the fan on then, placing the corner of a napkin etc in the air stream and observing that the air is indeed drawn downwards.

I think some of the confusion comes from the filter cover (at least on mine) which has the arrow pointing upwards when the word "up" is right side up.
Perhaps the wong covers were used on some Yaris' or perhaps Toyota means aiflow direction when they say "up" and you should ignore the word "up" if it is up side down when the cover arrow is installed to indicate correct airflow . It's confusing either way.

As far far as the charcoal, I have to assume that the air should be filtered before it goes through the charcoal
