Question TRD Sport Seats - JDM

The good news is my new TRD Sports seats arrived from Japan (ordered them in Feb.) and were installed by the dealer.

The bad news is my SRS airbags are disabled and my seatbelt light flashes.

I searched our site and really did not see anyone who has replaced their stock seats in a LB with either aftermarket or TRD's and have a fix for this issue.

Has anyone done this, and I have read all the wiring DIY's and those may be my last resort.

Thanks!!

I think if you unplugged anything electrical whilst taking out the seats from your car, you might have to wire plugs to close the loop again (much like those guys who changed to aftermarket steering wheels without airbags).

I don't know if you have already solved your problem but if you haven't :
Did you buy the TRD bracket and rail seats?
If you do but your seatbelt light is on, then you must have forgotten to re-connect the wire which is located right underneath the driver seat to the wiring fitted on the bracket and seat rail

yes, you need a resistor for the pressure/weight sensor in the passenger seat (after ripping it out of your stock seat, of course). that's the only way to have the airbag work correctly, it needs to "think" someone is sitting there. Of course, that's an "always on" scenario, but that's better than disabling your passenger's bag.

At least on the Scions, the drivers side has a positioned sensor, so the car "knows" how far you are from the bag in the wheel (timing is everything, and bad timing can be lethal in this case). This can be repositioned on the new rail, but take note of where it was before you make the switch.

There has been some discussion as to whether the airbag system deploys at all if one component is compromised or disconnected. I have not been able to get a definitive answer (probably because they don't want you to mess with such an important safety feature).
