i'd like to install LED lighting in the area under the dashboard. where do i tap the DC power for the lights so that they go on and off
when the doors are opened and closed?

thanks for any information you can share.

Yea I would also like to do this on my yaris. It would be nice to also have a switch for all of this.

you can check this out for the wiring on the dome light and tap into that somewhere:

http://www.etimago.com/yaris/repairmanual/EWD.pdf

...what i did is, instead of tapping into the dome light, i have two systems: one turns on when the lights are on. for that, i used the wire that would have normally been for the automatic shifter light (i have a stick) for those. they light up the little cubby area under the climate control console. the other lights i have light up the foot areas in the front and the cup holders in the back, giving an all around illuminescence. those are switched and powered by a 12v constant in the fuse box behind the driver's side sunglass holder (see the pic, courtesy of CTScott. the red wire toward the bottom is where it should go. there are two terminals. the top one is the 12 volt constant).

hope this helps someone!

i have my entire cabin light up, floorboards, airvents, compartments, under seats, under back seat, back floorboard. ill try and get some pictures if i can get my cam to take some decent ones. as for wireing i just wired from the batter with a inline fuse to a switch and then just wired the lights to the switch i have 3 switches in total inside outside and wheelwells. once you get the power in the cabin situated its easy as easy spread butter from there.

also have custom led lights in the glove boxes :)
