did you try draining the oil and then pour in a cheap oil to reflush ? Hope you have better luck .

I've seen so much tarnish on these ( sign of no or very few oil changes ) and wrong sized dipsticks in quite a few used older SCION XBs ( cousin of YARIS ) that are /were for sale at small and large dealerships , including TOYOTA . Should have metal like in the YARIS sedan .

I'd say don't wait due to the consequences . Better to be safe than sorry . Few hundred dollars lost better than thousands .

use WAL-MARTS cheap regular or synthetic . Some people swear by it .

dropping the pan be best , that's if you have the knowledge and nerve . Changing the oil filter several times and look inside to see if any particles . May want to pour oil from one pan / bucket to another using screen ( metal , nylon that used for window and doors ) and cover it so can capture any pieces for examination .

Some swear by their oil filters as well . Seen a woman with SUPERTECH oil filter and 5 gallon jug of regular PENNZOIL oil .

I do hope for the best of luck to you . You could take it to trust worthy garage / mechanic for advice or even have them remove pan . Shouldn't be all that much if you supply the oil , filter , and gasket . Just pay for the labor and would be under warranty . Probably be less than $125 for parts and labor . Better than engine possibly taking a crap .

You could probably fish it out or flush it out through the drain plug. It's plastic so it would flush out. The sooner you do it the better. If it breaks up into little pieces, it could block oil from flowing through your engine. That would be the end of your engine.

Not all Sedans have a metal dip stick. My 08 Sedan is metal but my 07 Sedan is yellow plastic.

If your worried just buy a tube of silicon and drop the pan. It takes like 5-10 minutes to do. Last time i looked there were about 5-10 bolts probally 10 mm. Remove it and check for debri. THe pieces are going to be big i dont think they will make it through the oil pump strainer. And then when your in there you can clean the bottom of the oil pan put a small bead of oil pan gasket sealer around the pan put it back together and let it dry for a few hours before filling with oil.
