installing rear mud guards - question
I just got some mudguards from trdsparks for fang. The front ones were a piece of cake, but I had a question about installing the rear ones. Do you have to take the wheel off to put the mudguards on?

Yes. You have to drill holes in the rear bumper to mount them. Here's the install guide.

Yup, I got the same ones and decided to put on the rears when I rotate the tires at the end of this month.

No need to remove the wheels. Rather than drilling the holes, use a soldering iron with a bent tip. It makes for a very quick and clean installation.

what the hell, San Fernando Valley? Did everyone read kimona's post and rush out to buy bent tips for soldering irons?

You can easily bend a cheapy copper tip to do the job successfully.

its done! I did end up taking the wheels off in order to be able to put on the mudguards. Even with the soldering tip, I couldn't figure out how to get a screwdriver in the small space.
All in all the rear guards took me about an hour. I live in an apartment and had to move my car to work on each side. I also installed one incorrectly and had to take the wheel back off to fix it. (There are two parts to the clip that needed to be removed - i had only pulled one) *disclaimer: my camera is broken, so all I have is a mobile for pictures. if you have a problem with quality - tough, its all i got* drilling holes, while using the guard as a template  screws tightened inside the wheel well  strange gap on the bottom inside (oops) - this is the one I had to go back and correct  nice and flush against the body  I think it definitely improves the look of the rear

thanks! and thank you for your help
yeah, my tool inventory is severely lacking - i blame apartment living. a 4-in-1 screw driver and a leatherman that usually cover what I need to do. |
