New member and need wheel advice

First of all this is a fantastic site with a huge amount of priceless information

I am thinking of changing the wheels on my yaris to something a little wider.
Im thinking of buying these wheels but in 16" not 15"

My question is would these wheel bolt on with no rubbing??
My yaris is standard apart from a cheeky remap ;)

Any help would help me so so soooo much !!

With an offset of 0, not a hope in hell of no rubbing. Anything with an offset less than 38 gets into rubbing territory depending on tire width.

Never was able to lower the car down so its in the air but you can see how badly it sticks outside the fender.

You should be ok with the +25 offsets and 195 width tires .

I have the xxr 527 17x8.25 +25 with tanabe coilover and it doesn't rub ..... It will look a lot better with a negative camber up front if you install the camber bolt .

My camber is -2.8 up front now and I'm very satisfied with the look and handling .

you could talk to Garm about getting fender flares and rock the Yaris as a wide body, but there will need to be some wheel measurements to determine if it can be done and still function and look reasonable.

I think the law there prohibits the tire tread from sticking out of the fender. (Looking straight down from the top of the fender to the ground). The loophole is that nothing is mentioned about the wheel. So stretching tires (tyres) on wide wheels makes it legal - technically. The tire tread still sits within the fender. Might not be true but that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

OP, you can run 16x7 +15 offset

That is a crazy law. I wonder if it is because of the small streets in europe they want to make sure all cars stay within a lane. I don't know why else there would be a need for that.

Have you seen Formula cars race in the rain?

The purpose of our fenders is to contain water spray. Tread extending out past the fender would generate huge rooster-tails of spray when driven during rain. Not to mention stones and other tread pick-up.
NOT a desirable situation for following drivers.

Actually, I believe that is the law just about everywhere, even here in the US. It's just never enforced (except for crackdowns on cruisers). Kind of like laws that prohibit any part of the chassis from being lower than the bottom of the rim.

If you've ever seen how an open wheel car can launch another open wheel car if the tires rub, you can see why the law was created...

if that were the case almost all 4x4's and most donks would not be street legal.

Where i live (UK) no part of the tire is aloud to stick out from the wheel arch ( fender ) but most police are fairly resonable round my area and seem to allow the tire to stick out but not the tread. same for the mot centers. so not to bad really. I like the idea of really wide tires for the yaris but it needs it to stay as legal as possible ;)

Yeah our roads are only small i guess
seems weird to me though beause my landcuiser has tread on the sides of the tires which comes out of the fender a few mm yet the police say nothing and it passes its mots no problem ?? surely thats much more dangerous ??

wouldn't surprise me if SUV rules were different, in the US especially once a vehicle has a gvwr of over 6000 i think it is pretty much exempt from a ton of rules. Wouldn't surprise me if the rest of the world followed similar ideas.

I LOVE that style also. they look like Minilite wheels an old 1960's Mini Cooper.



Over the years, Panasport also made this distinctive style as well as Enkei.



I got exactly the same style, except not as deep dished. They're 15X7...





The offset is +35 but I had to install 5mm spacers to clear the disk brake calipers.



With 195/60 tires, they don't stick out, and don't rub... and the wheels retain their stock diameter so that the odometer and speedometer remain accurate.
