Torsen LSD for yaris?
does anyone make a Torsen LSD for the yaris?
anyone have experience with a Torsen LSD on a FWD car? does it work similar to a 1 way, or is it functioning on decel/braking? this video was awesome! (but does not give info on decel/braking) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JEiSTzK-A2A |

Hello,
I have à Quaife Atb helical diff on my Saxo rally car, it's very efficient. You don't feel that it's there when you drive but when accelerating in a tight turn you know that it wouldn't be possible to do the same with an open diff. But I don't think that you need it it on a Yaris with its little Engine. That Will cost you à lot and only be usefull once in a while. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MvEowuaWoI Envoyé de mon D5803 en utilisant Tapatalk |

Quaife is considered a torsen--since it's not based on friction discs--but uses a different gear mechanism than a traditional torsen.
Quaife: Torsen: I installed the Quaife in my gearbox after the supercharger, so I can't say how well it works with the 1.5 NA motor. If you do any offroad driving, or have frequent snow accumulation, it's very helpful for controlling wheel spin on low traction surfaces. |

yeah, I thought quaife was built that way. awesome.
and yes, i'm thinking down the road when it's SC. and yes, I live in Colorado. we sometimes get snow. and mountains can sometimes be steep. :) |

The Quaife has a bigger torque biaising compared to the Torsen and is lifetime guaranted.
I would not recommend an helical diff to improve the traction on snow or dirt because it multiplies the torque that the wheel with less traction is able to send to the ground and then send it to the wheel with better traction. 0 x 500Nm = 0Nm The helical diffs are only better on tarmac compared to disc type lsd Envoyé de mon D5803 en utilisant Tapatalk |

and why would you not want more power going to the wheel with more traction? that is kinda the point... no, wait. that's the ONLY point...

An helical diff is à tiny bit better comparés to an open diff on snow. The différence between the two is nearly unnoticeable. If you buy à diff to have good traction on snow or mud you need à disc / ramp lsd.
While Racing my rally car I try as much as possible to avoid taking the muddy ropes because I can't accelerate if I have à wheel with nearly no traction. There is à way to limit this problem : apply à small pressure with your left foot on the brake pedal while accelerating to transfer more torque to the wheel with the most grip. What type of gearbox do you have?
C50, or C150? I have a brand new quaife diff here for a C150 type gearbox. For 6 bolted crownwheels |

Should be on the wehicle identification plate.
there is a line with color/trim/transmission codes. (might have forgotten some of the codes) Believe the last one on the line is transmission (tm) I believe you have a C150 or you can PM me your chassis number, and I can check for you |

most likely the c150. isn't the c50 the closed gear ratio 6 speed?

C50 is a stronger version 5 speed gearbox used in bigger engines, 1,6-1,8 liters
C150 is used in 1,0 litre to 1,6 litre engines. |
