REDLINE?
Can anyone tell me what my 07 yaris liftback Redlines at? I installed a small 2" tach that goes up to 10,000 RPM's and it's all red. So i'm not sure where I'm allowed to rev up to. Anyway if anyone knows, share with me :)
THANKS!!!! |

Really? Wow! That's high for this kind of engine. I know the peak horsepower is at 6,000rpm but I didn't think the red line was that far up. I think its either 6,200 or 6,400rpm as mentioned before but I could be wrong.

I thought that this thread might have to do with the release of the DVD for the movie Redline!

So I was testing it out and thought I would rev my baby up to about 6000 RPMs just to see what happened. And it sounds like my engine is about explode at about 4000. So either my tacho is not that accurate, or I'm just being a girl and not pushing it past 4000. When I idle it's about 500-600 RPMs with a warm engine. Anyway let me know if this sounds right or not. Thanks

5-600rpm is normal for idle. And yea, the engine gets kind of loud when it's around 4000rpm, but it can take it. Just maybe see if someone you know has a scan gauge for their Yaris. Hook it up to your Yaris and drive around and see if theres any difference in RPM. I don't know if you have auto or manual, but if you have auto you can put the car under WOT and it will not go in to the redline. Will shift around 6300-6400rpm.

Max revs, per tach, is probably counterproductive. Find out where peak torque is and go a tad past that before shifting. A lot of times, depending on engine tune/design, hitting the redline doesn't help your acceleration at all.
BTW, do Yarii have rev recorders in the computer box? |

Actually, assuming the standard acceleration of gravity, void of any air resistance, its 0 to 100 mph time using gravity would be 4.56 seconds. Faster than just about any car out there. God that sounds incredibly nerdy, but I was bored. |
