2012 Yaris LE vs 2012 Fiesta SE

Yaris more reliable and better city gas mileage?

Hmmm... I wonder who has a better reputation for reliability, Toyota or Ford?

A guy in my bible study group has the 2012 Fiesta. It's not a terrible little car by any means, but even he says he likes the Yaris a little more. And like Kimona said, Toyota has a great reputation for reliability. Ford is no slouch either, but between the two I'd take a Yaris first. I looked at Fiesta's before I purchased a Yaris, and something about them didn't quite tickle my fancy.

From what I understand none of the newer supposed 40 mpg subcompacts are getting anywhere near that, while the Yaris gets 35+ with ease for most. But check fuelly.com, or ecomodder, or any of the other mpg sites to see that.

You can't beat Toyota reliability, but frankly the interior are spartan. I am sure the Fiesta has it beat hands down in creature comforts.

Don't know about the fiesta... But my 200 focus swore me off of Ford vehicles.... Alot of that was a local dealer... Taken in for a headlight... 2 days later because a recall for wheel seals and 2 new discs (53K miles- they were too worn for them to reinstall.. Big fight I refused to pay)

Broken shifter cable at 88 k... thanks Bro for fixing that one

98 k dash would go bezerk and take extended breaks....

Alternator at 105k

Sold to bro (BIG FORD MAN) at 125k... He had to refill AC... replace motor mount... and tires ( rear tires wear fast- bad geometry???)

well 205 it lost a valve seal...

Not bad, but not quite toyota quality either...especially MADE IN JAPAN Toyota quality...
That's a big point for me!!!

In 2011 we have trade in the new Fiesta because of a lot of problems with the engine.
It was a strange whining noise. The dealer has replaced the gearbox, clutch and a lot of other parts.
We got a replacement new Fiesta with juste the same sound wich was pretty common wich we have read on internet.
Now we have a new Yaris with a 1.3 petrol cvt without problems.

The only thing what was better in the Fiesta that there where less rattles in the car.
We've driven less km's/ miles with the Fiesta though..

Misschien omdat de Fiesta altijd bij de monteur is...

ik weet it niet...

Fiesta looks better inside but I think Ford does not even come close to yaris in terms of reliability

(I reserve my right to be wrong)

IMO, the person who buys a Fiesta must own Ford Stock or something...I had sold my CB7 (4th gen Honda Accord 90-91) to buy a Ford Taurus and my friend is still driving the Honda around. Let's just say the Ford didn't last me more than a year until some major component broke such as gas pump, transmission issue, etc...but then again that was the old Ford...but one thing for sure the bitter taste never leaves your mind. I then went on to acquire a 1995 Toyota Camry and recently ditched it for a Civic.

Ford had to evolve w/ the economy while Toyota continue to move forward and be an industry leader...so who knows how much attention to detail Ford had invested into R&D amongst the abrupt restructuring...

Fiesta hands down beats the Yaris in driving dynamics.

Yaris's powerplants and transmissions are very old and it shows.

7 of the vehicles there were getting better than the epa highway rating. That is 41%. It's a pretty good figure, and comparable to what we see here with the Yaris.

I had a chance to drive in a 2012 Fiesta for abit the other day. I'll be honest, I didn't like it. My '12 Yaris LE may not be the most luxurious, but it felt at least more plush than the Fiesta SE. The Fiesta just felt harder than the Yaris. And not sporty harder, just cheap harder. I dunno, I'll keep my Yaris, the Fiesta didn't knock my socks off any.

I know the Fiesta gets all the accolades from the reviewers, but I don't like the looks of it at all and I wouldn't trust the reliability of it, either. Besides the Yaris, I'd take the Mazda2 or Kia Rio hatch over a Fiesta.
