Question Powerfilter? Yes or no?

Hey all,
Im Remco and Im 18 years old, from Holland...
I got a Toyota Yaris 1.0 from 2009 :D!

Put some nice wheels on it (Original 16'' Toyota/Yokohama) and a TMS spoiler.

I'm not really the guy who want to do 180km/u on an avarage road (like some others do -_-), thats why I got a Yaris haha, but I still find the power a little less...

Ive been thinking of maybe putting in a Powerfilter to get a little more power. But is it a smart thing to do? And if I do put it in, what change could I notice?

I'm not really sure actually so, I hope you guys can help me with it...

Thanks

What is a 'Powerfilter'?

Are you referring to what is commonly known as either Cold Air or Short Ram intakes?

Here's a small discussion for you. Only one I could find specific to a 1.0

http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/sho...ght=intake+1.0

There are many threads in here on intakes, and varying opinions on them. Many of us run with either CAI or Short Ram, and produce dyno results showing +/- 4 whp gains on the 1.5 ltr.

And why is that? What brought you to that conclusion?

Seems like a pretty quick decision 31 minutes after posting the question.

dont waste your time buying a cai or "powerfilter" the 1 hp you might gain will be mitigated by the 50-80 euros you'll be spending on it. Plus any reasonable gains in power will also have a effect on fuel consumption. The more power you make the more fuel the car will drink albeit in very small quantities but its something to think about since I'm ASSuming its your first car.

As for the wheels im running yoko s.drives which so far have lasted me 15k miles or 25k km and its at about 50% treadwear give or take. I dont know the prices of tires in the eu but you also need to consider how much you drive as the better the tires grip the less forgiving it will be winter/wet conditions and its lifespan is generally shorter.
