Fumes/burning smell through air vents ?
Hello Everyone !
Hope some one can help me ? Just brought a 02 Yaris, only 48000 miles on the clock. Noticed sometimes only sometimes there has been a smell of burning/fumes through the dashboard airvent. The water temperature light flashes briefly on start up and noticed this symbol turned red then disappeared. Checked the coolant level and its all topped up fine. any ideas anyone ? :) |

Should be in first gen section, but anyways....
Verify for exhaust leak, if that's what you smell. Sent from my A0001 using Tapatalk

Yeah, exhaust leak, typically the doughnut gasket that seals the union between the exhaust manifold and the down pipe is the culprit. Visually inspect this area, and if the two metal flanges drawn together by spring bolts are touching or very close together, then the gasket is shot.
